Abstract   |   Authors   |   References
In the context of ongoing transformations in marriage and family relations and the socio-economic situation in Russia due to the special military operation the modern state of family sub-institutions is considered, quantitative and qualitative changes are actualized, their possible risks and consequences are actualized. The purpose of the study is to identify the most relevant options for families to overcome stress and strategies of (self)saving men in the conditions of profound socio-economic and socio-cultural changes in the life of the country. One of the main tasks is to rethink the role of men in the Russian family. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study was the theory of family stress (R. Hill, P. Boss, J. Patterson), analyzing the family as a social (eco)system and defining the resources of the family and its members as protective mechanisms, sources of minimizing and/or overcoming stress and, accordingly, leading components of the structure of family survival strategies. Based on this theory and the typology of individual coping strategies proposed by S. Folkman and R. Lazarus, the authors present factors and strategies for overcoming crisis situations by Russian families: escape strategy; saving strategy; activization strategy; humility strategy. Their positive (cohesion and increase of the family composition, mutual support, intensification of marital and intergenerational dialogue, strengthening of men’s family positions) and negative (separation, destruction and narrowing of the family, inhibition of development of involved fatherhood, egalitarian marriage and parenting, significant increase in women’s family burden) sides are distinguished. The conclusion about the actualization of traditional status-role characteristics and family practices of men is made
