After the events of the “Crimean Spring” authors of some Russian scientific publications have expressed an opinion that Russia is at the threshold of a new stage of its historical development. Has the transition to the new stage happened? Have any changes in population’s evaluation of the development of the situation in the country’s domestic and foreign political life taken place? The article considers these issues in the context of the post-crisis period which falls on 2015 (it refers to the “Ukrainian crisis”). The author presents key events of 2015, provides data on the dynamics of public opinion of vital issues in modern life – attitude to the President’s activity, economic situation perception, general emotional sentiment, etc. As the main information source the author uses sociological studies conducted by the Institute of Socio-Economic Development of Territories of RAS in the Vologda Oblast. The author concludes that one can say about the new stage in the country’s life at least due to the fact that the Russians take themselves and the world around differently than 5-10 years ago. However, the nature of key problems stays the same. First, these are the issues related to the level and quality of life, securing of the fair organization of the society. The way these problems will be solved, the efficiency of the authorities’ activities in the assuring of the Russian economy competitiveness influence the national security, self-sentiment of the Russians and that is the key indicator of the country’s transition to the new stage of its development
