The article considers practical experience of public opinion monitoring in the Vologda Oblast as one of the possible tools that contribute to implementing the evaluation function of the sociology of management. The role of the evaluation function of the sociology of management is actualized under the influence of two factors: first, against the background of accumulating contradictions in the world community, sharply exacerbated in the pandemic context and international political tensions; second, due to the specifics of Russia’s internal (national) development in the market transformations period, especially in the 21st century. The foreign policy situation at the beginning of 2022 requires a mobilizing reorientation of the development vector in many areas of life, and in this period the evaluation function of the sociology of management plays a special role. As an empirical database, we used the results of regional, federal and international sociological studies, which largely correlate with each other and allow saying that today sociological methods of knowledge are one of the most effective and popular tools in the implementation of the basic functions of public administration
